Touchdown celebrations used to be a thing of legend to some degree; Deion Sanders, Ernest Givens, Ickey Woods, Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, and even Terrell Owens gave the fans something to cheer about following a touchdown.
Then the fun police came to town and the elaborate celebrations went away...
Unless you were willing to pay a fine.
Looks like someone has had a change of heart.
Commissioner Roger Goodell announced at the league's spring meeting in Chicago that players will now be allowed to use the ball as a prop and celebrate in groups.
Players can also go to the ground to celebrate in the form of snow angels. Those actions had been banned in recent years, but the league has come under heavy criticism for over-regulating and penalizing celebrations.
Goodell says players have asked for more freedom, but notes that offensive demonstrations or prolonged celebrations that delay the game will still be subject to penalties.
